September 2018:
We have been very busy bees so far this term. We have moved into our new Henwood classroom and have been making beautiful artwork and writing wonderful stories to display in our class.

Our first topic of Toy Story is in full swing! We have been wearing our historian hats; looking at how toys have changed over time to the present day, making different comparisons, alongside sketching different toys and exploring what materials they are made from.

Year 2 have been excellent designers and have big aspirations to design and make their own moving toy with different shaped cam mechanisms.
Year 1 are excited to make the sock puppets they have designed to link in with the story we have been reading in English lessons.

As mathematicians, we have been exploring the different types of maths equipment that we can use to help us with our maths. We have learnt a new chant; 'I don't know but I've been told, tens are tall and ones are small!' which relates to our base ten equipment that we can use to help us to know the place value of the digits within numbers. We will continue to learn more about place value across the coming week before moving onto addition and subtraction once we are secure in this.

Our Forest School sessions have begun and we have been making some wonderful things with different natural materials. We are also playing lots of team building games which helps us to work together as a class.

This week, we will be becoming authors where we will be writing our own stories in response to the David Lucas story 'Lost in the Toy Museum' that we have been reading and enjoying. We hope to share some of our writing with you soon; keep an eye out!
