Free School Meals Application Form

Free School Meal Entitlement (FSM)

Pupil Premium funding is additional money is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving one of the welfare benefits listed in this letter.  For each child in receipt of FSM, the school will receive an additional £1320 per year. It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals, even if your child is in reception, Year 1 or Year 2, so that your child’s school receives as much funding as possible.  Your child does not actually have to have a school dinner to receive the funding.

What are the benefits?

Apart from receiving a cooked nutritious, balanced meal every day saving you £400 per child per year, the extra funding the school will receive could provide financial assistance with:

  •          School Uniform
  •          School Swimming Lessons
  •          Residential Costs
  •          Trips
  •          Before and after school care

The funding could also be used to provide extra tuition within school time, extra staff, and to purchase resources to support your child.

Should your entitlement come to an end, the funding will remain in place for up to six years, although your child will not be able to receive free school meals anymore.

It is very easy to enquire if you are eligible, check the criteria overleaf and either see Tracey in the office for a form, or complete the simple on-line form of the Cornwall Council website:

https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/education-and-learning/schools-and-colleges/school-meals/

The information you provide in this form will be used by the council to confirm receipt of one of the listed welfare benefits.  Once this is confirmed, this helps to decide how much money the school will receive each year.

You only need to complete this form once and it will last for the duration of your child’s time at their current school.

Even if you are not sure whether you are eligible, it is still worth applying.

Don’t forget, by registering your child, you will raise money for the school which could be used to benefit your child.  If your child is in Reception, Year 1 and 2 who will automatically receive free school meals, please still register to enable the school to receive the funding.
